Army Ten Miler

Thousands of men and women from all over the world took to the streets of Washington D.C. on Sunday, October 24th, for the 26th annual Army Ten Miler race. Although the competition was pretty fierce, it was last year’s winner Alene Reta who crossed the finish line first.

As recently reported by Mollie Zapata over at examiner.com, Alene beat all the competition, to win his second consecutive race in a total time of 47:10. However, this year’s time was 11 seconds slower than the record he set during the 2009 Army Ten Miler race.

Maryland’s Tesfaye Sendeku came in second place with a time of 47:58, while Colorado’s Robert Cheseret finished in third. Robert completed the course in a time of 48:20. The first Washington D.C. resident to cross the line was Steve Hallain, who finished 11th with a time of 50:04.

Aziza Abate was the winner of the women’s race, finishing the course in a total time of 55:44. Colorado’s Kelly Calway finished in second place, completing the distance in 57:20. Third place went to Michaela Courtney with a time of 58:14, while Gabriella Trana finished the race in 58:31 for 4th place.
