YMCA

Young Men’s Christian association is one of the largest world wide organizations, with twenty five million members across one hundred and twenty different nations across the globe. It was founded in London, England by a young Christian Sir George Williams in the year 1884 with the hope and dream of changing the spiritual condition of young Christians across the world. Today its headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland. This organization stresses on the attainment of a few core values including caring for one another, honesty in one’s work, taking responsibility for one’s action and last but not the least treating everyone whether older or younger individuals with respect. Not only that forgiveness and teaching the children the difference between right and wrong is extremely important.

This organization has many programs that help its members in academics, in sports and there are also some parent/child programs for individuals to improve themselves and excel in different fields of life. This organization has had many notable members including three nobel laureates who won the nobel peace prize. These include Henry Dunant,  John R. Mott and the former prime minister of Finland, Martti Ahtisaari. In 1997, during the annual conference of this organization, a few points were put together as a challenge for the twenty first century. These included many points from spreading the word of Jesus Christ among the different parts of the world to encourage the religion of Christianity, work towards developing equitable society throughout the world,  and working to provide for women and children to recognizing and respecting all cultures and civilization and their traditions. The last but not the least is to conserve all the natural resources
of the earth for future generations. By achieving all these goals, the organization wants to create harmony among the humanity.
